MAMMA MIA! The Musical
Meet the cast

More than 30 vibrant singers and dancers will soon take centre-
stage at the Civic Centre in Suva for the first-ever Broadway
musical production in Fiji.
Mamma Mia! is a global smash hit musical released in the
late 1990s, which was made into a wildly successful movie in
the early 2000s with an all-star cast led by Meryl Streep and
Amanda Seyfried. While the musical is beloved by many, the
young Fijian cast hopes to put on a memorable show in this local
reboot.
Fiji Traveller caught up with some of the cast members at
their last rehearsal for 2023 before the show’s grand opening in
February 2024.
One of them is Paulini Bautani, who hails from Nananu,
Tailevu. She said: “I’ve been singing with my twin sister Leilani
since we were little kids. I’ve done a bit of dancing but acting is
something new and different.” Bautani is well known for being
part of the Pasifika Voices choir, who recorded the soundtrack
for Disney's Moana.
“When we first started rehearsing, none of us knew each other
because we’re all from different backgrounds and different age
