Exploring Shanghai’s depths at the Intercontinental Wonderland

Intercontinental Shanghai

As the Brand, Marketing, and PR Executive for Captain Cook Cruises Fiji, I recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a journey across China as part of the Tourism Fiji ‘Great China Roadshow’.

Among the five captivating cities I explored, Shanghai emerged as a true gem, capturing my heart with its vibrant energy and rich cultural tapestry.

My stay in Shanghai was made extraordinary by the unique and awe-inspiring Intercontinental Wonderland, also known as the Tianma Pit Hotel, Shimao Quarry Hotel, Songjiang, or Pit Pegasus Hotel.

The location of the hotel is breathtaking. Surrounded by lush landscapes and overlooking a tranquil lake, the Intercontinental Wonderland is a serene oasis amidst the bustling metropolis. Its strategic positioning offers easy access to Shanghai’s top attractions, ensuring a seamless blend of urban exploration and relaxation.

The history of the hotel is as captivating as its surroundings. The construction of the Intercontinental Wonderland involved transforming a disused quarry into a magnificent structure that seamlessly integrates with the natural environment.

The result is a striking architectural masterpiece that provides a one-of-a-kind experience for its guests.

My accommodation in the King bed suites with an underwater view was a true highlight.

Waking up to the mesmerising sight of fish gracefully swimming past my window was an experience that will linger in my memory.

The hotel also boasts a dining area with a similar underwater perspective, creating an immersive culinary journey that complements the visual feast.

The lobby area is a testament to the hotel’s commitment to sensory delights. A musical water feature adorned with colourful lights adds a touch of enchantment, setting the tone for the magical experience that awaits within the depths of the Intercontinental Wonderland.

The panoramic views over the lake from various vantage points within the hotel are breathtaking. Whether enjoying a morning coffee or an evening cocktail, the scenery is a constant reminder of the harmonious marriage between nature and human ingenuity.

One of the many highlights of my stay was the sumptuous breakfast spread. From international delicacies to local delights, the hotel’s culinary offerings mirrored Shanghai’s diverse and dynamic food scene.

For anyone planning a holiday in Shanghai, the Intercontinental Wonderland is my top recommendation. It goes beyond being just a place to stay; it’s an immersive experience that seamlessly combines luxury, nature, and innovation.
