In a ground-breaking initiative aiming for inclusivity in the arts, the Fiji run of MAMMA MIA! The Musical is gearing up for a special ‘accessible performance’ on February 10, 2024.

Directed by Michael Payer, this rendition of MAMMA MIA! promises to dazzle audiences while serving as a platform for local talent.

The accessible performance will feature Fiji Sign Language interpretation and audio description, breaking barriers for those with vision and hearing impairments.

“The arts are for everybody and should include everybody – especially here in Fiji. We are committed to leading the charge for disability inclusion in the arts by making theatre accessible and inclusive,” said Sharleen Ali, Director of The Festivals Company and MAMMA MIA! Co-producer.

Tickets start from $11, and are deliberately priced to ensure inclusivity. To further enhance accessibility, the show’s Suva Civic Centre venue offers wheelchair-accessible seating at all performances from February 9-17.

Individuals with hearing impairments seeking Fiji Sign Language Interpretation can reserve seats close to the interpreters by contacting the Fiji Association of the Deaf.

Cast members, The Gang frontman Soni Uluitoga, and renowned artist, Laisa Vulakoro will add depth and local flair to the production.

Tickets for all performances are now available for purchase at www.ticketmax.com.fj/MQTOZ
