“We are excited to be witnessing so many different art forms that make up Fiji’s creative industry. We are also looking forward to watching and supporting our fellow artists in the festival and celebrating their unique contributions to our arts industry.”
Expect an electric performance at the Fiji Fringe Festival from Fiji’s own hip-hop dance crew, MATA.
The show is expected to be packed with power, entertainment, and energy, with the crew generating a vibe that will keep your feet happy and your body moving.
MATA first formed in 2019, and has 15 active dancers. Ticket holders can expect a fusion of performances showcasing hip-hop, as well as some rich cultural backgrounds that the company is proud to represent.
MATA director Tevita Tobeyaweni says: “We are absolutely delighted to be a part of this year’s first ever Fiji Fringe Festival, and we are excited to be working with [founder] Sharleen [Ali] and the Festivals Company again for this huge event.”
He adds: “We believe Fiji is more than capable of offering what we have on an international scale.”
MATA will hit the stage at the Fiji Gymnasium on February 27th & March 1st at 7pm.
