Briefs: Port Denarau expansion, Fiji Link goes cashless

Fiji’s  Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka has officially launched a FJ$6 million (US$3 million) Mega Superyacht berth expansion at Port Denarau.

 The expansion includes:

  • 7 new berths (including Fiji’s first for vessels up to 115m)
  • A 203-meter jetty extension
  • Dredging to accommodate large vessels
  • A total of 62 berths, with 27 dedicated to superyachts

Fiji Link goes cashless

Fiji Link, the domestic subsidiary of Fiji Airways, is now fully cash-free  at Nadi, Suva, and Labasa airports.

All Fiji Link customer transactions at these three airports – including ticket purchases, excess baggage, and other services – must be completed using debit or credit cards, M-PAISA mobile payments or Local Purchase Orders (for approved customers only).

Rise Beyond the Reef x IHG

 All guest rooms at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & SpaGrand Pacific Hotel Suva, and Holiday Inn Suva now feature custom ironing board covers from non-profit Rise Beyond the Reef, hand-printed by young people from rural Fijian communities, including those living with disabilities, through Rise Beyond the Reef’s Studio Print program.

The initiative provides sustainable income and professional training for artisans in remote areas such as Ba and Sabeto.

This initiative is part of a broader, long-term partnership between InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa and Rise Beyond the Reef, which includes tableware at Navo Restaurant, decor and gift ranges for events and weddings, and participation in the Rise Beyond the Reef Arts Shopping Tour, offered three times a week from the resort.

Drua and Reddy Foundation partner in north

The Drua Foundation and the Reddy Foundation have formed a new partnership to unite remote communities through rugby. This December, they will launch a dedicated program in Vanua Levu for the first time, offering young people, players, coaches, and officials the opportunity to learn from expert trainers and rugby professionals.

Supported by the Reddy Foundation, the Drua Foundation will host the three-day training program in Labasa between December 2 – 4 to build capacity for coaches and officials around Safeguarding and Finance Literacy delivered by ANZ. The program is also being supported by Damodar Event Cinemas.
