“I spent a chunk of my childhood biking with my family down the coast, picking guavas, and riding home before sunset. It was just our way of living,” Ren Slatter recalls.

This personal experience and connection to the land has inspired Ren and her father, Brad Campbell, to share the beauty of Fiji in a way that goes beyond the typical tourist spots.

The father-daughter duo has founded iBike Fiji, a unique way to explore Fiji’s scenic landscapes in western Viti Levu.

The business specialises in off-road electric bicycle tours, giving both tourists and locals an immersive experience in the country’s less-travelled interior.

The idea for iBike Fiji was born from father and daughter’s shared love for adventure, and a deep connection to their homeland.

“This has been Brad’s baby for a while,” Ren shared, explaining that her father had always wanted to turn their family’s outdoor adventures into something more.

“When he proposed the idea [of turning it into a business], I just thought, ‘It’s amazing.’”

iBike Fiji offers tours that go beyond a leisurely ride to an opportunity for people to immerse themselves in Fiji’s hidden landscapes, through rolling hills, sugar cane fields, and traditional villages.

“The story we want to tell doesn’t have paved roads. It’s a totally different experience.”

One of the key elements of iBike Fiji’s initial success has been the enthusiastic support of local communities.

The tours often pass through farms and villages where residents welcome visitors with open arms. “Everyone we’ve talked to has been excited to be involved,” Ren said.

“In Fiji, people are always saying, ‘Come, our door’s always open.’

“We design the tours to be inclusive, using electric bikes with pedal-assist features
that make them accessible to riders of all fitness levels.

“If you haven’t ridden in a while or are scared of hills, you can switch,” Ren explains.
iBike Fiji aims to tap into the growing adventure travel market, which is expected to surpass US$1 billion globally by 2030.

The business is also committed to promoting sustainable tourism.

“Adventure and immersion are the essence of iBike Fiji,” Brad Campbell
emphasised.

“We’re excited to be one of the first in Fiji to offer off-road electric bicycle tours.

Our guided tours will provide an experience that’s fresh, unique, and electrifying.”

He says the tours aren’t just about adventure; they also foster cross-cultural exchanges, enriching the traveller’s experience while supporting local communities.

“Visitors are becoming more curious about local history and traditions,” Ren said.

“A tour with iBike Fiji provides exactly that.”

As the business continues to grow, it plans to expand its offerings with more customisable and multi-day tours.

The team is also creating a micro-gear shop to promote cycling in the local community.

“We can’t wait to show everybody what we’re doing,” Ren shared excitedly.
