Fiji Airways suspends some flights due to fuel prices

Fiji Airways is suspending some services to Brisbane and Dallas due to high fuel prices resulting from the US-Iran war and partial blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

A statement from Fiji Airways says the changes “are a direct response to substantially higher fuel prices and the current geopolitical environment, and are aimed at ensuring the airline can continue operating in a reliable, efficient, and sustainable manner.” This phase of the war in the Middle East is in Day 46, has spilt into neighbouring countries; and there is no clear end in sight.

Fiji Airways has issued the following updates:

Brisbane: From 25 April, services FJ922 and FJ923 will be temporarily suspended. A daily
service will continue to operate, ensuring continued connectivity with minimal impact to
customers.

Dallas Fort Worth: From 5 May to 16 June, Fiji Airways will temporarily pause its Tuesday services (FJ891 and FJ890) for approximately seven weeks. It will continue to operate two weekly services to Dallas Fort Worth.

Fiji Airways say customers affected by these changes will be contacted and provided with suitable alternative travel options. It asks customers to check their flight status via the Fiji Airways website to stay up to date and to download the Fiji Airways mobile app.

It urges customers to ensure their contact details are also up to date via Manage My Booking on the airline’s website.
