Arriving at the Nama Fiji warehouse in Nadi is like entering a sanctuary for the preservation of natural beauty and community wellbeing.
The reception and shopping area is an open, airy space, thoughtfully designed to highlight the beauty and simplicity of Nama Fiji’s products. From cleansing gels to facial serums, all items are neatly encased in glass and bamboo packaging.
Founded by Debra Sadranu, Nama Fiji has been more than a skincare brand; it represents a sustainable, cruelty-free, community-driven enterprise. Sadranu’s journey began in the 1990s, when she arrived in Fiji and founded Spa Academy Fiji.
Now she is focused on product development and innovation centred around wild nama, the local name for sea grapes.
Sadranu’s vision extends beyond offering luxury spa treatments. Nama Fiji is also focused on providing economic opportunities for women in the Yasawas.
Spa Manager Ronika Naidu stated: “We harvest nama sustainably in the Yasawa Islands, and we use it for its hydrating properties and rich mineral content.
“This initiative provides villagers, especially women, with training and employment opportunities to improve their livelihoods while preserving the environment.”
The Spa Academy Fiji is on the upper level of Nama Fiji’s headquarters. Accredited by CIDESCO International, it is a hub for professional training in thalassotherapy and skincare.
It supports students with hands-on training and job placement opportunities, furthering Nama Fiji’s mission to empower women through education and employment, not only locally, but across the global spa industry.
The academy’s focus on thalassotherapy, which leverages the therapeutic benefits of seawater and seaweed, underscores the integral role of nama in their treatments.
Walking through the manufacturing facility, I observed the meticulous process of creating Nama Fiji’s products. The emphasis on sustainable practices is evident at every stage.
Nama Fiji’s product line reflects a dedication to both efficiency and simplicity. They craft each product, from their cleansing milk to their face masks and gel serums, with a focus on natural ingredients and minimal processing.
The brand continues to expand its global footprint, but it remains grounded in its mission to enhance both the natural beauty of its customers and the wellbeing of its community.

The Nama Spa and factory outlet is located right behind the U.B. Freight Building at the Motorex Industrial Park on Nadi Back Road.
