A significant number of superyachts will visit the South Pacific over the next two years, says Cynthia Rasch, director of Port Denarau, Fiji’s award-winning marina.
Port Denarau Marina and Tourism Fiji attended the world’s premier Yacht Show in Monaco late September which drew around 35,000 guests featuring more than 450 top luxury yacht brands and 115 superyachts.
Rasch says the event was important for Fiji “to attract superyachts to visit the (country) and showcase the beauty and facilities that Fiji and the South Pacific have to offer”.
This year, Fiji joined forces with Australia, Tahiti, and the Cook Islands under the South Pacific stand as part of a coordinated marketing strategy.
A 51-meter superyacht is due to visit Fiji this month, which Rasch says, will stay during the off-peak season. “Since the revision of charter regulations, we have noticed a clear trend in the visitor profile, including a wider age and country range, and genuine aspirations to charter,” she said.
