In recognition of International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD), IHG Hotels and Resorts in Fiji have donated a total of F$3000 to support ongoing efforts for children with cancer in Fiji.
IHG Fiji made the donation to WOWS Kids Fiji, a non-profit charity foundation for children with cancer.
“This is a great opportunity for us to raise awareness for such an important cause on International Childhood Cancer Day. The donation will support WOWS Kids Fiji in its ongoing efforts to provide support for children with cancer and their families in Fiji,” says Lachlan Walker, IHG Area General – South Pacific.
“This initiative aligns with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow goals, which aims to improve the lives of 30 million people in our communities worldwide,” he added.
WOWS Kids Fiji also collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to coordinate and provide support for families with children living with cancer.
According to Dr Savenaca Seduadua, who specialises in pediatric oncology at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, there are between 20 and 30 child cancer cases diagnosed in Fiji every year.
“We’re incredibly grateful for this valuable partnership with IHG Hotels in Fiji. Your assistance will enable us to continue to provide the much-needed health care and support for our children living with cancer,” WOWS Kids Fiji Team Leader, Mere Williams said.
