After 44 years, Fiji’s first guidebook on its capital city, Suva, returns with a revamped version.
The authors of Suva – A History and Guide have expanded coverage to over 200 pages. This includes detailed information on neighborhood attractions, restaurants, cafes, shopping, heritage buildings and Suva’s flourishing cultural and nightlife scenes. The new edition features local contributors such as photographer Josua Mudreilagi, and others.
Rob Kay, who co-authored the book with its original author, the late Albert Schutz, says it includes a walking tour for every vulagi (visitor) – whether day tripper or cruise ship passenger. With detailed descriptions that will bring sightseers into the heart of Suva life, the tour begins at the Municipal Market and ends at the Fiji Museum.
The local entertainment and arts scene is also included in the guide. With bars, nightclubs, modern dance, live music, and art exhibitions, Suva offers visitors a rich cultural tapestry and the hottest nightlife in the South Pacific. Also featured is a comprehensive history of Suva, highlighting the famous and not so famous personalities that made Suva the hub of the South Pacific.
The book is now available for download on Amazon for US$2.99
