YUMI (Pacific/World)
In 2019, eight students attending law school at USP in Vanuatu formed a group that became the Pacific Island Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC). After years of working towards securing the necessary support from other countries (states), in 2023, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted overwhelmingly to support an Advisory Opinion on State Obligations in respect of climate change at the world’s highest court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ). YUMI tells the story of the PISFCC and their journey to the world’s highest court.
