“Dear Mom” by choreographer, Giovanna Varea is a Tribute dance piece to her late Mother who helped her chase her dreams of being a dancer but never got the chance to see her perform. ��After her first Debut of “Dear Mom” in the capital of Suva for the Fiji Fringe Festival, Giovanna’s piece won the Critics Choice Award!��
Giovanna says “This dance piece is based on a letter of what she’d want her Mom & family to hear, feel and see looking at the past versions of herself.”
Sa Mario is a satirical piece based on a popular children’s’ hand-game in Fiji. As young Fijians, we have been born into and raised in coup culture and have never known our country beyond the stories of our parents and grandparents.
Choreographed by VOU Dance Fiji Artistic Director, Navi Fong, the “Sa Mario” performance speaks to the feeling of not knowing what might be next.
