BlackSalt is a powerful performance that explores the profound connection between Pacific Islanders and the ocean, symbolized by the phrase “we have saltwater in our veins,” gifted to us by the late poet and academic Teresia Teaiwa. 
Through a fusion of traditional Pacific Island sounds and contemporary electronic music, BlackSalt creates an immersive and evocative sound experience that resonates deeply with its audience. 
This work is created by Peter Sipeli, a local poet and storyteller, and After Art, an international sound artist and composer known for his unique, site-specific experimental works. Together, they explore the connections between places, spaces, and people through innovative generative music frameworks.
